Living in a national monument, directly on the harbor chamber of Blokzijl.
This is possible in this special building by Hendrick de Keyser, which was built in 1666.
The mansion has the façade, atmosphere and details of past times while being ready for the future; It is completely off the gas and has a heat pump and solar panels.
You can move into this historic house in the center of picturesque Blokzijl. All you have to do is choose through which entrance you enter this characteristic house: take the door on the side of the harbor or the one on the square.
Layout
Kerkstraat 2 consists of two joined houses on the corner of the Kerkstraat and the picturesque harbor of Blokzijl. For that reason, the house has two 'front doors'. The door on the Kerkstraat is the actual entrance, the door on the Zeedijk provides access to the large basement. The building has two floors plus a spacious attic and a basement that can be entered from both the inside and the outside (for example, a bicycle can be driven straight into the basement). The house has plenty of storage space and there is also an enclosed patio.
Ground floor:
Through the entrance on the Kerkstraat you enter the bright and spacious front room of about 11 m². This space can be used for many purposes; Think, for example, of a wardrobe, a playroom / study or the storage of a pram or other items that are not usually in a living room. In this room you can also find the toilet and the stairs to the basement of another 17 m², to which there is also access from the outside (Zeedijk). This space can serve as storage, but is also a great place to drive and store the bicycles.
The slightly higher living room (23 m²) can be reached via three wide wooden steps and is characterized by the beautiful black fireplace, the beamed ceiling and the view of the harbor of Blokzijl. Both in this 'back room' and in the front room there is a solid wooden floor. The city garden can be reached through this room. The high rooms and large windows with rods on the ground floor provide plenty of natural light.
Both through the front and back room there is access to the - again - very bright and spacious kitchen. This 20 m² can be turned into a real kitchen with little effort; A large wooden table with comfortable chairs would not be out of place here. And as with all rooms on the ground floor, there is a lot of natural light thanks to the windows on two sides.
First floor:
The three steps that connect the front and back rooms also form the beginning of the stairs to the first floor.
On this floor are three spacious bedrooms (2 of 12 m² and 1 of 20 m²) that represent the atmospheric times of yesteryear with their typical green panel doors, the robust beamed ceilings and white-painted walls. There is also a modern bathroom here and in a separate room you will find the second toilet.
The large landing provides an overview and creates a spacious atmosphere. The wooden staircase leads to the attic.
Second floor:
The characteristics of earlier times have also been clearly preserved on this floor: portholes, windows with rods, solid wooden beams in the roof. This attic with a new wooden floor, offers plenty of space and therefore possibilities. This is also the place where the installations are located.
The attic above with minimal headroom offers plenty of space for storage.
